Abstract
The review presents recent information on the role of leptin, a peptide hormone secreted by adipose tissue, in the regulation of hunger and food intake. Particular attention is paid to the ways in which leptin, synthesized by peripheral tissues, affects the brain mechanisms regulating food intake.
